In-home care for cats and small pets

How Visits Work

Routine-led visits that keep life feeling familiar at home.

Whiskers, Tails & Scales provides calm, in-home pet visits designed to keep pets settled in familiar surroundings. Each visit is unrushed, built around clear instructions, and shaped to fit the routine your pet already knows.

Prices – £20 per 45-minute visit, £35 for two visits on one day.

Prices quoted are for up to and including two pets. If I am feeding fish in a tank, this counts as one pet!

Continuity matters

Where possible, the same person provides care throughout the booking, helping pets feel more familiar with each visit.

Before you book

Every booking starts with a proper handover.

A meet & greet is required before the first booking. This is where feeding routines, medication, access details, security arrangements, emergency procedures and any behavioural notes are discussed in full.

Clients are also asked to complete the intake form and care agreement so care can be delivered consistently and safely from the first visit onwards.

Meet & greet

A complimentary, in-person discussion to understand routines, temperament, access and the practical details of care.

Clear instructions

Feeding, medication, security and emergency information is recorded clearly before care begins.

Consistent care

Familiarity helps pets settle and makes subtle changes in behaviour or wellbeing easier to notice.

What happens during a visit

Calm, practical care built around your pet’s normal routine.

Visits are structured, observant and unrushed, with care delivered in a way that respects temperament, handling preferences and the environment your pet already knows.

Feeding & water

Fresh food and water are provided according to your instructions and your pet’s established routine.

Environment checks

Litter trays, enclosures and tanks are checked as needed to keep care areas safe, clean and settled.

Wellbeing observation

Each visit includes visual wellbeing checks and quiet observation of behaviour, appetite and general presentation.

Routine-led care

The aim is always to follow your pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, without fuss or unnecessary change.

Light tidying

Pet areas are lightly tidied where needed so the space stays practical, hygienic and orderly.

Quiet interaction

Interaction is gentle and respectful, with handling shaped by temperament and is never forced.

Visit times and frequency

Planned in advance, within clear working hours.

Visits take place between 09:00 and 21:00. One or two visits per day can be arranged in advance depending on your pet’s needs. Two visits are priced higher than one, but not double, reflecting shared travel time and familiarity with routines. Visit frequency is agreed in advance.

Overnight stays and visits outside these hours are not offered.

Care for nocturnal pets is available where routines can be met within normal working hours, and any enrichment or out-of-enclosure activity must be agreed in advance.

Updates, emergencies and communication

Clear communication, with your pet’s welfare first.

Updates can be provided as agreed, with photos where permission has been given. If anything urgent or unexpected arises, you will be contacted promptly.

If a pet needs urgent veterinary attention and you cannot be reached, care will be sought through your nominated vet or the nearest appropriate provider.

Your pet’s welfare comes first, and any veterinary costs remain the client’s responsibility.

Emergency procedure

If you cannot be reached, the agreed veterinary route is followed without delay where urgent care is needed.

Service boundaries

Clear expectations help care stay safe and consistent.

The service is built around in-home visits only, with boundaries that protect pets, households and the quality of care being delivered.

01

In-home visits only

Care is provided through visits in your home rather than boarding, day care or overnight stays.

02

Dog care not offered

Dog care is not part of the service, as it requires a different level of exercise, supervision and handling.

03

Handling is never forced

Interaction is guided by temperament and what can be done calmly, safely and with respect for the animal.

04

Safety comes first

Tasks may be declined if they cannot be carried out safely or in line with the agreed routine and care plan.

Pet reassurance cameras

Used for reassurance, not active monitoring.

Cameras can be used for reassurance, but they are not monitored by Whiskers, Tails & Scales. Cameras must not record or stream during visits unless agreed in advance, and audio recording is not permitted. All and any cameras and associated hardware/software must be provided by the pet owner.

Important

Any recording arrangements must be discussed in advance so privacy and service boundaries remain clear.

Calm, familiar, clearly planned care

Care designed to keep pets settled in the place they know best.

Whiskers, Tails & Scales provides in-home visits that are calm, clearly planned and shaped around routine, so pets can remain comfortable in familiar surroundings while you are away.
